Micro and Mini Max Grand Prix Vereeniging 17July 2016

IMG 0145An organised practice day followed by a 6 lap time trial saw Micro and Mini Max drivers test their new equipment and compare skills.

Top national youngsters showed their experience by reeling off six almost identical laps in a row. Cape Town's Joseph Oelz posted the quicket total time of the eleven Mini Max's at 5:10.878 with Cameron Dias less than 0.5 seconds behind! Jarrod Waberski, Christiaan van Wyk, Jayden Els and Daniel De Paiva were seperated by 0.4 seconds!

What really impressed is that despite not having anyone to follow or slipstream that the top six's total times were still less than 2 seconds apart after 6 laps. What would have happened if they had actually started together and raced?

The best lap time of 51.655 shows the exciting level of performance of the Mini Max - roughly half way between the National 60cc classes and the Junior Max. Micro Max lap times at 55.385 appropriately slower than the current 60cc to suit drivers from the age of 7 to 10 as the next step up from 50cc Cadet.

In Micro Max Joshua De Paiva stamped his authority by turning in six almost perfect laps. Not far behind was Muhammed Wally who pipped Reece Fuller for second quickest total time.

Judging by the chatter in the pits the next few months will see rapid growth in Micro and Mini Max with events scheduled as follows:
