Changes in the SA Team to the 2016 RMCGF

Earlier today an announcement was made that there would be changes in the lineup for the 2016 Rotax World Finals to be held in Sarno Italy next month. With only weeks to go this change was brought about by the apparent legal disputes between certain competitors that were unresolved after the close of registration. Rotax International Sporting Regulation 4.7.2 states that where there are ongoing court proceedings that the seat goes to the next eligible competitor - effectively excluding all the disputing parties from participating.

Based on letters from attorneys and serious time pressures, we were mistakenly led to believe that there were court proceedings when in fact, after taking legal advice, it is clear that there is only a threat of court proceedings - no actual proceedings have been instituted. For this reason, our decision is reversed and the team remains as it was:

  • Joshua De Paiva
  • Jayden Els
  • Cameron O'Connor
  • Delon Thompson
  • Ivana Cetinich
  • Fabienne Lanz
  • Justin Allison
  • Eugene Brittz
  • Luca Munaretto
  • Nicholas Verheul
  • Jonathan Pieterse
  • Richard Fuller

We apologize to all affected by this bona fide mistake and thank them all for their understanding.

Michael Stephen and Bradley Liebenberg who dominated their respective Rotax SA Karting Championship titles in 2016 will unfortunately not be competing in Italy due to a date clash with GTC and Polo Cup commitments. Michael and Bradley showed what they are made of winning their respective classes last weekend in Cape Town and look set to take a second National title each at Kyalami - on the same weekend as the RMCGF.

Live Streaming of the Rotax Grand Finals starts on 19 October 2016.
