african open 2018

The Rotax African Open will be held as a double header event at Zwartkops Raceway on 30 June 2018 and 1 July 2018.

Comer and Topkart distribution transferred from Kart King to Ed Murray Racing

top kart cadetKart King and Ed Murray Racing have agreed that as of 28 November 2016, EMR will be the official distributor of Comer and Topkart in South Africa. Both Jannie Habig and the Murrays believe strongly that the Cadet class has an important role in SA karting and, given that EMR Karting has retail outlets and workshops at both Zwartkops and Killarney, they are better equipped to market and promote the Cadet formula.

Comer Spa has sanctioned the deal and the stock held by Kart King has already been moved to Zwartkops. EMR will as soon as possible order additional stock and hopes to provide the same service as it does with Rotax and other products. We will attempt to always have new karts on display in our showrooms and one for test drives for potential new comers.

At a little more than half the price of anything else for this age group the Comer Top Kart Cadet still seems to be a logical choice. However, as in any karting class there are discussions of how much competitors spend to get the best motors and so we will take a keen interest in this and see what if anything can be done to improve this. EMR has initiated a technical evaluation of the Comer C50 in its current level of “tune” and will consult with anyone that has something practical to contribute. Starting with the manufacturer Comer, Dellorto, Janie Habig, our TC’s, talking to our highly experienced local tuners and competitors we will carefully asses the current regulations and see if there is a need for any changes. NB: changes will only be considered to level the playing field and reduce running costs - NOT to go faster!

This process may take several months but we hope it will yield a positive outcome. Anyone wishing to contribute is invited to mail This email address is being protected from spambots. Go Cadet!!!
