TYRE USE AT THE SARMC Karting National in Vereeniging on 19 and 20 March 2017

The new regulations are designed to limit the number of sets of tyres used by competitors to control costs. As described below is a MAXIMUM of two NEW sets of tyres and one USED set of tyres may be used for Sunday practice and racing on Monday. You can naturally use less!

  1. Saturday 18 March is free practice.
  2. From the start of Sunday morning, you can use ONE used set of tyres and you may also use ONE new set of tyres ie. total MAXIMUM of two different sets may be used for official practice. These sets will be scanned, marked and checked by the officials during the day.
  3. QUALIFYING and RACING: A new set of tyres must be used for qualifying on Sunday afternoon. These will be scanned and marked and are the only tyres permitted in the racing on Monday.
  4. The tyres must be fitted with the correct rotation.
  5. You may NOT exchange or share tyres with another competitor at any time.
  6. These rules do not apply to Cadet and Micro Max where the only control will be from qualifying. Only one set of new or used are permitted from that point on.

TYRE BATCHES:

To ensure fairness each class will race on a designated batch of tyres.

  1. Cadet and Micro Max may only practice and race on C2 tyres with the GREEN barcoded label. These can be new or used tyres.
  2. Maxterino and Mini Max may only race on C2 tyres with the WHITE barcoded label. It is permitted to practice on new or used GREEN or WHITE label tyres.
  3. Junior Max may only race on D2 tyres with the WHITE barcoded label. It is permitted to practice on new or used GREEN or WHITE label tyres.
