680 SmallKarting banana boy Daniel Duminy is champing at the bit as he prepares to step up to the Senior Max class for the first time at Saturday’s Vereeniging Northern Regions finals. Duminy, who enjoyed a positive season in Junior Max alongside a debut season in the Engen Volkswagen Polo Cup on the main circuits this year, can’t wait to get to grips with the more powerful Senior kart class.

“I am really looking forward to stepping up into Senior Max at V Town this weekend,” the 15-year old admitted. “I will have to deal with some of the toughest drivers out there as well as among the quickest lady karters in the world, but I’m ready to go give it my all and I’m aiming for a top three finish.”

The more powerful open age group Senior Max karts runs at a higher minimum mass and on stickier tyres to turn in lap times about a second quicker a lap than the otherwise technically similar high school age Junior Max machines. “Senior Max is a lot faster and has a lot more top end so I’m very excited,” Daniel explained.

Duminy’s step up is another reason why V-Town could be a great destination for a bit of Guy Fawkes karting fun. Find the kart track behind the Vaal Show Grounds off van Riebeeck Street, Vereeniging.
