Image Werner VietFabienne Lanz kept the Northern Regions karting tradition of lady driver winners alive and well at the second leg of that Championship when she kept the lads at bay to win a busy Senior Max class in Vereeniging on Saturday. 

Not even visiting SA Junior Max champion, Cape lad Dino Stermin or Northern Regions Junior Max champ Delon Thomson could keep veteran NR Senior Max champ Lanz off her winning streak as Fabienne took race 1 and 3 wins to take the day from Stermin, race 2 winner Joshua Dias and lady rivals Ivana Cetinich and Shannon Jackson with Jason Smith sixth after Thompson suffered a troubled day in seventh.

Image Werner VietJustin Allison made no mistake to race to triple Rotax DD2 gearbox class victories over another lady karting star, the ever-improving  Rachelle du Plessis who was second each time to end ahead of Masters drivers Erwin Sterne, Marouan Selmi, Pasqual Acquaah and Nic Verheul. The popular old school 6-speed 125 GPs were the third open class racing on the day, where Scott Falconer took triple victories to take the day from Deon Auby, Clint Jones, Miguel Dias, Richard Fuller and Paul Dias.

Blaine Rademeyer took a third and a couple of wins to take Rotax Junior Max 125cc high school honours over race 1 winner Luca Munaretto, Cameron, O’Connor, Mozambican lad Karl Pitzer, improving class newcomer LJ Mguinqi and Tiago Rebelo; while Jordan North dominated the other 125cc high school class Junior Rok class to beat Kwanda Mokoena, Dylan Seedy Michael Pringle, Jarred Eekhout and yet another lady racer, Valmerie Volschenk.

Jordan Brooks took all three 60cc primary school Maxterino wins over Mahummed Wally, Joshua De Paiva,Aquil Alibhai Anthony Pretorius, Aquil Alibhai and Jagger Robertdon while PE lad Joshua Coertze took all three rival Minio Rok 60cc heats to defeat  Jayden Els, Jarrod Waberski, mini karting lass, Cameron Dias Leyton Fourie and Daniel de Paiva

Kart 71 Moosa Kajee dominated Cadets. Image Werner VietMoosa Kajee produced a baby Cadet 50cc class upset by beating under-8 star Mohammed Moerat Simile Zamxaka KC Ensor-Smith, Kyle Beukes, Judd Bertholdt and KC Ensor-Smith.

The third round of the Northern Regions karting championship is at Zwartkops Saturday 14 May with Gauteng’s top karters first heading down south for first round of the national series at Killarney in Cape Town before that on 2 April.
