South Africans take on the world in the biggest karting championship on the planet

Rotax of Austria supplies over 270 brand new karts engines and tyres for the Max Challenge Grand Finals held this year in Spain*Durban’s Cristiano Morgado is aiming for his fourth successive World title in the DD2 Masters Category.
*Over 280 drivers from more than 60 countries will compete
*Each driver gets a free-of-charge, brand new kart, engine, tyres, fuel, oil, kart trolley and tools to compete – a unique system to ensure absolute parity of equipment, so it’s all down to the driver!

This coming week, Ten South Africans will compete in the 2014 Rotax Max Challenge Grand Finals in Spain, with four new karting world champions to be crowned on Saturday, November 29.

RACE UPSETS AS CAPE KART TITLES SETTLED

JP Hamman 3 took Maxterino title as Joseph Oelz starredSaturday’s Cape karting championship finals at Killarney produced upsets in the results, although the championships ran out pretty much as expected. Jonathan Thomas emerged as DD2 champion, Luke Herring took Max Challenge honours, Kohen Bam is Junior Max campion, JP Hamman is the Cape Maxterino champion, Troy Dolinschek won the Cadet title and Dale Fourie took the Cape Clubmans championship.

Morgado on a role!

Cristiano Morgado Rotax International Open DD2 Masters Champion 2014

Cristiano Morgado has qualified for the Rotax Grand Finals in three ways this year. He has won the South African Championship for DD2 Masters, the Rotax African Open at Zwartkops Raceway and the Rotax International Open at Zuera in Spain.

This frees up the Rotax African Open seat to deserving driver Marouan Selmi. Welcome to Team South Africa 2014!
