THE 2014 ROTAX AFRICAN OPEN KARTING CHAMPIONSHIP, ZWARTKOPS, SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 6

Rotax DD2A highly competitive field of over 20 karters, many of them champions, will contest the top-billing DD2 class in the 2014 Rotax African Championship at Zwartkops Kart raceway, Pretoria, on September 6.

Out to defend his 2013 African Open title will be KZN’s Luca Canderle, but he’ll have his work cut out from the likes of reigning overall SA DD2  champ Ryan Frost,  past SA champion Eugene Britz  and previous Senior Max champions Chad Maciver and Mitchell Licen.

South Africa's top drivers and visitors from as far afield as Angola and Kenya will fight it out for a highly sought after invitation to the 2014 Rotax Max Grand Final in Valencia, Spain.

 

 

WHAT'S NEW IN 2014

  • The Rotax DD2 and DD2 Masters will race seperately 
  • Cadet and Clubmans will be running as supporting classes
  • Kenya join the Rotax African Open for the first time

PRIZES

The final race of the day is "the winner takes it all!" Winners of the Junior Max, Senior Max, DD2 and DD2 Masters receive invitations to the RMCGF.

This year the winner of Maxterino will receive an air ticket and the necessary tickets to attend the 2014 RMCGF in Valencia.

FOWLER BEATS THE WEATHER AND THE REST

Delano Fowler 411 moved into the Junior Max title leadThe fifth round of the 2014 Western Cape Karting Championships found a hole in the foul weather to deliver brilliant racing at Killarney Saturday, with upsets and action the order of the day.

Sparks flew as expected in the high school Junior Max 125s where Delano Fowler (Suprocom TonyKart) delivered a superb trio of races to win each time as he fended off Kohen Bam (SAKRA Kosmic) and his similarly-mounted brother Henry to move into a tight championship lead. Fowler, who was recently handed back points lost in a controversial third round exclusion following an MSA Court of Appeal, made no mistake despite Kohen Bam’s constant attention.
