New blockbuster kart championships kick off in PE

South African Kart Championships - Port Elizabeth - 21st / 22nd March

Van Rensburg (Zanardi) could upset the applecart pic by Heinrich SauerPort Elizabeth’s Celso Scribante kart circuit is the venue for the opening round of the new look South African Kart Championships which takes place on 21st – 22nd March.

This year, for the first time since 2008, no less than eight classes will be competing on the same day rather than in separate .

DRAMA AS CAPE KART TITLES ARE SETTLED

Cadet pic by Mark ZeemanThe 2013 Western Cape karting championships came to a dramatic head at Killarney on Saturday as certain classes literally fought until the last turn to settle the titles.The tightest chase went down in the Cadet class where eight-year olds Joseph Oelz and Tate Bishop went into the first race on even points and fought wheel to wheel for six laps until a controversial incident, which saw both off the track and scrambling to get back on. That left the way open for title outsider Troy Dolinschek to win from Sebastian Swanepoel as Oelz fought back to fourth behind Lee George.
