KILLARNEY SET FOR 6TH ROUND WP RACES

800The Western Province Rotax Max karting championship returns to the Killarney Kart Track for its fifth round races
with a few interesting title tussles developing across the board to promise another day of great track action Saturday 27 July.

Jason Coetzee may hold a decent DD2 gearbox class title lead following a consistent season, but with Dino Stermin back on form following a troubled early season and Jonathan Thomas and Sebastian Boyd also both having won already this season and Jarryd Evans and Waldo de Wet in the mix, it should be close and exciting up front.

Cape Town’s karting madalas have however delivered regular great racing in the 0ver 30s DD2 Masters, where just three points split Conor Hughes and Roy Gruer in the title chase among a most competitive field that includes Marco Viegas, Ernst Viljoen, Harry Georgiou and Andre Steenkamp.

Senior Max is another close matched title race with six points separating top two Kai van Zijl and Simon Simpson-Heath and Storm Lanfear not far behind and Andrew Thomas and Reece Oellerman enjoying a close spat for fourth in that title chase, but never ignore SA Junior champion Charl Visser and Formula 1600 wildcard Andrew Rackstraw among this lot.

Under-15 Junior Max title race is another interesting one — Troy Dolinschek has a reasonable title advantage there, but with Tate Bishop in fine form after dominating last time out, there is nothing certain here either. Kyle Visser is another proven high school winner while Storm Lanfear, Thaqib Meyer and Luca Wehrli are all ready to pounce8001

Ethan Stier has enjoyed a great season in under 13 Mini Max, but Jason MacBeath has had his measure enough to worry him in that title race. Add Mikhail Fernandez, Valentino Hoffman, Paul Malcolm and Cape karting lass Mischa Williams and there is a recipe for some great racing too.

Reza Levy dominated with three wins on the trot from Reese Koorzen, Joshua Smit and the three Ethans, Lennon, Deacon and Stier, with the second race delivering an identical result, but Ethan Deacon beat Ethan Lennon to fourth in the final, while the overall result reflected the first two race positions.

It’s all-out war in under-11 Micro Max, where Reese Koorzen holds another mighty tight title lead and with Reza Levy hot off his African Open success, it should be dynamite up front there. Behind them, there is bound to be a wrought between Joshua Smit, Ethan Deacon, Ethan Lennon and Luan Mostert.

BambinoRayan Karriem has been in great baby Bambino form to lead the Cape’s littlest racing championship, but rookie of the year Jordon Wadeley and Luan Mostert are too close for comfort in that title chase, with Kai van Rensburg, Rebecca Wadeley and Nikolas Louw in close attendance too.

The Cape Clubmans always entertain - these guys may race for fun, but it’s deadly serious between Johan Hamman, Jared and Michael Jordan, Gary Lenon and the gang.

The Killarney Kart Track is on the infield of the main circuit with good food and refreshments available, informative commentary; a cool atmosphere in the pits and great racing on track. Certainly worth a visit!
