MSA NATIONAL ROTAX KARTING CHAMPIONSHIP – IDUBE ROUND RESCHEDULED TO AFRICAN OPEN AT ZWARTKOPS – 4 JULY 2026

The South African Rotax Max Challenge (SARMC) wish to advise all competitors, officials and supporters of an important amendment to the 2026 MSA National Rotax Karting Championship calendar.

Following a formal safety inspection of the Idube Kart Circuit, MSA’s Safety Panel identified deficiencies that do not meet the minimum safety standards required to host a national event. After careful consideration, MSA has withdrawn the circuit’s permit with immediate effect. The safety of competitors must remain the overriding priority and this decision reflects that commitment.

We acknowledge the enormous disappointment this brings to the KwaZulu-Natal karting community, to the competitors who have invested time and money preparing for this event and to the team at Idube who have worked tirelessly to address the concerns identified. This was not a decision taken lightly by anyone involved.

Rescheduled Date and Venue

The National round previously scheduled at Idube will be incorporated into the Rotax Africa Open, to be held at Zwartkops Kart Circuit, Pretoria on 3-4 July 2026. This combined event will form Round 3 of the 2026 MSA National Rotax Karting Championship. The second round will go ahead at Formula K on 14 June 2026.
