History Made at Zwartkops: O’Mahoney Wins Africa’s First Rotax E10 Challenge

Zwartkops International Kart Raceway, 5 July 2026

Africa’s electric karting era began this Sunday, as thirteen drivers took the grid for Round 1 of the Rotax E10 Mini Challenge — the first time battery-powered Rotax karts have raced on the continent. No two-stroke scream, just tyres and the whirr of electric motors around Zwartkops.

Michael O’Mahoney took the win on 90 points, and with it the first Grand Finals ticket to Portugal in this new category. Cape Town compatriot Ruhan Victor chased him home for second on 84, with Namibian, Mandume Kaiyamo, completing the podium on 80 points. Eduardo Campos from Mozambique, Adriaan Steyn and Lwashu Mathebula rounded out the top six.
