Rotax E10 Challenge to Launch at Zwartkops Raceway with South Africa’s First Rotax Life Event

Ed Murray Racing, the official Rotax distributor for South Africa, is proud to announce the launch of the new Rotax E10 Challenge, which will begin at Zwartkops Raceway on Sunday, 5 July 2026 — directly following the Rotax African Open.

The Rotax E10 Challenge is aimed at creating accessible, equalized and development-focused racing opportunities for young drivers and has already generated significant international interest. The series will consist of three qualifying events, with the winner of each event receiving an entry to the RMC Grand Finals.

The Rotax E10 Challenge dates are:

  • Sunday, 5 July 2026 — following the Rotax African Open
  • Saturday, 8 August 2026
  • Sunday, 30 August 2026 — following the Rotax National Final

All three events will take place at Zwartkops Raceway.

An exciting addition to the opening event on 5 July will be South Africa’s very first Rotax Life Event. The Rotax Life concept introduces a broader and more inclusive karting experience, combining racing, driver development and community-focused activities in a festival-style environment.

The event day will also feature activities and racing from the Wesleigh Orr Racing Academy together with various Rotax Life categories, creating a full day of on-track action and entertainment for competitors and spectators alike.

Only competitors holding a current MSA Regional or Club licence will be permitted to participate in the Rotax Life Bambino, Micro and Mini, Junior and Senior, and DD2 categories.

All current competitors who meet the international age limit for E10 Mini are welcome to enter the Rotax E10 Challenge.

“This is an exciting opportunity to grow the Rotax community in South Africa and introduce a new style of event that focuses not only on national competition, but also participation, development and creating memorable experiences for drivers and families,” said Jennifer Verheul of Ed Murray Racing.

Further details regarding entries, event schedules and regulations will be released shortly through the official Rotax South Africa channels and the Sportity App.
