Leaders take charge at Cape Rotax regional

The Western Province Rotax Max karters got their racing done as the weather came in on what started as a crisp and clear winter’s Saturday. In a day of domination, Jason Coetzee won all three DD2 races, Sebastiano Human the Senior, Max Boshoff Junior, Slater Smith Micro Max and Zaid Panday all the baby Bambino heats. Ruhan Victor had to work a bit harder for the Mini Max win.

DD2 & DD2 MASTERS

Jason Coetzee romped to a triple DD2 gearbox class win as Charl Visser and the ever improving Matthew Wadeley shared the second places two to one to complete the podium. Joseph Oelz picked up a second race third place en route to fourth from Tony Auby and Ethan Stier. Jared Jordan beat Conor Hughes two wins to one to take the Masters day with Neville Chapman third on an impressive fifteen-kart DD2 grid.

Senior MAX

Sebastiano Human was once again in imperious form as he sped to another dominant triple Senior Max victory. Matthew Carter, Keagan Beaumont, Geo Christl, Jesse Swart and Jordon Wadeley could only watch as Human raced away on another impressive fourteen kart regional championship grid.

Junior MAX

Max Boshoff was another Capetonian karter to continue his dominant run in local high school Junior Max. He too sped to a back-to-back triple victories. Once again, there was not too much that Michael Danks, Raffaele Musso, Jose Slamet, Zach McAuley and Ruan Lewis could do to stop their rampant rival.

Mini MAX

Under-13 Mini Max was another Cape Rotax regional class to deliver a significant 15-kart line-up. Ruhan Victor took two wins but was lucky to hold on for the overall trophy after a tough final. Consistent Liam Wharton was second while Logan Roehrig went the other way to win the final win for third for the day from Michael O’Mahoney, Slater Smith and Jake Steyn.

Micro MAX

Double duty Slater Smith dominated under-11 Micro Max as he led Lehan Fourie, Caleb Lingeveldt, Yaseen Panday, Jamie Geldenhuys and Emelee Adriaans to that overall win. Unusually, those six drivers came home in the same positions in all three heats as Smith consolidated his title advantage.

BAMBINO

Zaid Panday was untroubled as he rattled off a triple race win to take baby Bambino honours. A much improved Sebastian Fletcher ended second from Blake van Deventer, Remi Coxon and newcomer Liam Ludwig.
