Record MAX Karting At Killarney

A Day of Domination at Killarney’s 4th Round WP Max Races

The fourth round of the Western Province Kart Championships produced the regular tight racing and lap records at a brisk winter’s Killarney on Saturday, even if the day en main went according to the form book.

Joseph Oelz was imperious as he returned to control over an encouragingly swelling direct drive gearbox DD2 grid. He was untroubled as he left Sebastian Boyd, Jason Coetzee and the returning Charl Visser to fight it out behind with Rafe Tayler next up from Michael Jordan. Conor Hughes was flawless in the first over-32 DD2 Masters race as Andrew Thomas earned a 5-second nose cone penalty,  Hughes went on to win the second and third heats and also set a new Masters lap record, to take the day from Thomas, Jared Jordan and Marco Viegas.

Tate Bishop not only demolished open chain drive Senior Max, but he also set a fine new 40.605 track record in the process. He left Storm Lanfear to fend off Tristan de Nobrega, Julian vd Watt and Kyle Le Riche for second. Reza Levy had to fight back to overcome a delighted maiden first race winner Matthew Wadeley as he sped to the second and third high school Junior Max race wins from Joshua Smit, Wadeley, the returning Valentino Hoffman and Jaden Jacobs.

In primary school action, Joaquin de Oliveira sped to his regular under-13 Mini Max triple as Joshua Smit fended Jordon Wadeley off for third ahead of Sabelo Ntuli and troubled pair Reese Koorzen and Jude Stuart. Under-11 Micro Max went against the day’s dominant trend as Aiden Beaumont pipped fellow heat winners, Dale Hobbs and Keagan Beaumont to the win ahead of Matthew Chiwara, Liam Koekemoer and Siyabonga Ntuli.

Michael Danks was untouchable in the baby Bambinos as he beat Liam Wharton in all three heats, while Siyabonga Ntuli topped a fine spat for third over Zach McAuley and Ruan Lewis, with Zac Boshoff, Micah Corneilse and Seth Voller next up. And Sean le Riche beat the evergreen Guy Lanfear and David Fraser to Clubmans honours.

Rotax Max regional action moves to iDube in KZN next this coming 20 June weekend.
