FIRST GRAND FINALS 2026 QUALIFIERS CONFIRMED

Gunskirchen, Austria, January 31, 2026 – The Rotax MAX Challenge International Trophy Asia 2026 was successfully contested on January 20–25 in Macau, with more than 20 nations represented across Australasia, Europe and beyond. In its premier appearance, the demanding 1,203-metre Coloane Kart Circuit proved the ideal venue for the high-profile championship, delivering the most competitive edition of the event to date.

New winners were crowned across seven categories, representing seven different countries, and the first RMC Grand Finals 2026 tickets were awarded. Macau delivered both a historic and memorable week of Rotax racing.

On track, the level of skill, preparation and sportsmanship displayed by teams and drivers was exceptional. Precision and smoothness were key to conquering Coloane, with intense competition in every class under varying conditions.

Five RMCGF 2026 tickets were secured in Rotax Mini MAX, Junior MAX, Senior MAX, DD2 and DD2 Masters. These drivers will go on to face the world’s best Rotax competitors from November 21–28 at the Kartódromo Internacional do Algarve in Portimão, Portugal.

Micro MAX

Top qualifier in the youngest category was Japan’s Louis Mikami, edging out Denmark’s Khloe Flora Malling Sorense. Daniel Yoon (KOR) and Adam Dion Asp shared heat race honours. Sunday’s Super Heat victory went to Xinghao Wang (CHN), ahead of Mikami and Yoon.

In the Final, Yoon seized the lead early and held off Mikami in a drag race to the line, becoming the first Micro MAX champion in Macau and earning entry to the RMCIT Europe at Le Mans in July. Adam Dion Asp completed the podium.

Mini MAX

Team UK’s Alfie Mair secured the first RMC Grand Finals 2026 ticket, claiming pole position and remaining unbeaten throughout the event. Strong performances followed from Isaac Yoon (KOR) and Lev Khovanskii (KGZ).

A close Final saw pressure from Albi-Jay Stubbs (UAE) and Yoon, but Mair controlled proceedings to take victory and set the fastest lap.

Junior MAX

China’s Sihan Zeng claimed pole position, with Aaryan Singh (UAE) and Australia’s Jay Kostecki close behind. Multiple nations featured at the front throughout the heats.

After a dramatic Final and post-race penalties, the title went to Peerapongpan Sutumno (THA), securing his place at the RMC Grand Finals. Kostecki finished second, with Japan’s Takeru Shimbashi third.

Senior MAX

An exceptional grid of Asian and international drivers produced thrilling racing. Italy’s You-de Lu emerged victorious after intense competition, earning the RMCIT Asia Champion title.

Toby Gale (THA) delivered a standout drive from P10 to finish second, with Tobias Normann (DEN) third. Lu now turns his focus to the Grand Finals with a clear goal: becoming Rotax World #1.

Senior MAX Masters

Japan’s Murai Kensuke dominated the category with a flawless weekend, controlling every session. He took victory in the Final by over six seconds.

The podium was completed by Hsin Ho and Chun-Yu Yeh (Chinese Taipei) after a spirited battle.

MAX DD2

Former Grand Finals champions Axel Saarniala (FIN) and Ragnar Veerus (EST) renewed their rivalry in Macau. Veerus prevailed in the Final to claim the title and a coveted RMCGF ticket.

Defending RMCIT Asia champion Sheng-Ya Hong (TPE) completed the podium.

MAX DD2 Masters

Yan Vonzanok (KGZ) delivered a masterclass performance, capitalising on his experience to secure victory. Kazuma Kimura (JPN) finished second, ahead of Cheng-Yang Tsai (TPE).
